Code Enforcement Officer

Join Our Team

The City is seeking a dedicated and community-oriented Code Enforcement Officer to help maintain the safety, appearance, and quality of life within our community. This position plays a vital role in enforcing municipal ordinances, educating residents, addressing community concerns, and supporting animal control operations.

The ideal candidate is professional, approachable, self-motivated, and committed to providing exceptional public service while fostering positive relationships with residents and businesses.

What You'll Do

As a Code Enforcement Officer, you will:

• Conduct inspections and patrols throughout the City to identify ordinance violations.
• Enforce municipal codes related to weeds, property maintenance, trash removal, snow removal, abandoned vehicles, and other nuisance violations.
• Investigate citizen complaints and work with property owners to achieve voluntary compliance.
• Issue warnings, notices, citations, and summonses when necessary.
• Maintain accurate reports, records, and documentation of enforcement activities.
• Respond to public inquiries and provide information regarding City ordinances and services.
• Perform animal control duties, including responding to complaints, capturing stray animals, transporting animals, and investigating animal welfare concerns.
• Assist with the operation and maintenance of the City's animal shelter, including adoption coordination and animal care.
• Prepare cases and testify in court as required.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Colorado Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.

• Experience in code enforcement, animal control, public safety, municipal government, or a related field is preferred but not required.
• First Aid and CPR certification may be required.
